MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORT:

Midterm Progress Reports will be sent home this Wednesday. We ask parents to read and discuss them with your child and return them signed next week.

STUDENTS PASSWORDS

Last week, we set up our second graders school email accounts. The accounts follow the student’s first name, the initial of their last name, @discoveryschool.edu.hn

E.g., Luciana Chan         lucianac@discoveryschool.edu.hn

These email accounts will be closely monitored by our technology department while being used in school and MAY NOT be used for social media, apps, games, or other uses not pertaining to education. These accounts are necessary for the use of internet on school grounds, since students cannot access the web unless they use a Gmail account. Our new system tracks and filters student use of the internet so there are places they CANNOT GO, and if they are doing things they shouldn’t be doing during school time (i.e. watching movies or playing games) we will know it. In such cases, we will intervene promptly, in a non-punitive and pedagogically sound way, to reorient those students to the proper use of their accessories.

Please ask your child to share their password with you, and encourage him or her to use to use the account that was given to him or her responsibly, following the guidelines that have been discussed in class and are stated in the Parent-Student Handbook. If you feel you need to come in and talk to your child’s teacher or Area Coordinator, please call the school to set up an appointment. We will gladly sit with you and talk about this as we are trying to move forward in the safe use of technology.
